Where to Buy your Supplies.

Interesting and New Supplies from Factory and Showroom.

"T Stands for Taxicab.

We have received from Robert Bell, Ltd., Horseferry Road, S.W., four small and awkwardly-shaped pieces of cardboard which we have been requested so to manipulate that a perfect " T " will be formed. The puzzle has already proved popular, but too much for the sub-editorial mind.

Road Wheels and Other Steel Castings.

Some two years ago the Sheffield Electric Steel Castings Co., Ltd., decided that an important business was to be done in the manufacturing of steel wheels for commercial motors. Accordingly, this company designed a special type hollow wheel which it was anticipated would speedily become in great request.

The special plant laid down for the manufacture of the wheels was, in a few months time, very fully occupied. The electric steel furnaces are now working under great pressure, and the machine shop, in which the work is guaranteed to a limit of 1-1000th in. before being passed, is pressed to the limit of its capacity.

We reproduce a photograph below, which gives a good idea of the cast-steel wheels as manufactured by this concern. Both a front and a rear wheel are here illustrated ; the light, strong spokes and rims are hollow in each case.

A special detail sheet is sunplied to inquirers for this company's productions. If this be filled up with the necessary particulars, the Sheffield Electric Steel Castings Co., Ltd., is pleased to prepare special drawings to meet any particular set of conditions, and also to quote prices for the work.

Price's Price for. Garages 3d. per sq. ft.

We have received, from time to time, inquiries from readers as to the cost of erecting garages and workshops. Many firms who have changed their de livery system from horses to motors are still garaging vehicles in the old horse stables, which have been very roughly adapted for use as a garage.

Mr. C. J. Price, 87, Bishopsgate, E.C., is making a special feature of the erecting of buildings suitable for garages and workshops. We reproduce herewith a photograph –of a moderate-sized building erected by this contractor ; this gives an idea of the substantial construCtion combining the maximum of floor space and light. The price, so we are informed, of a garage suitable for the housing of one to half a dozen vans works out at 3d. per sq. foot. No doubt readers who are considering the erection of such buildings will get in touch with Mr. Price.

Perodo's New Premises.

We called by invitation last week at the Upper Rathbone Place premises of the Herbert Frood Co., Ltd. The increasing demand in London and the South generally, for Ferodo clutch and brake lining, has led this company considerably to extend its London premises. The basement at Upper Rathbone Place has been fitted up with drilling, grinding and sawing machines to enable a large volume of work to be handled.

A good amount of stock sheet, blocks and linings is carried, and most orders can now be supplied in London, without the delay entailed in writing to the works at Chapel-en-le-Frith. A competent staff is employed who are prepared to carry out the fitting of Ferodo blocks and linings in the best way.
