Citroen's Ready-to-Run controlled-temperature partner Somers Refrigeration has recently spent £500,000 on expanding its factory to increase capacity from 350 to 450 units a year. It will also be able to handle up to 1,000 conversions a year.
Somers' conversions are based on frameless, direct-bonded vacuum-formed panels with foam blocks overlaid with ply panels, covered with fibreglass and normally sealed with a gel coat. Modular rear doors and the insulated sliding side door are strong operator attractions. Repairs are also easy.
Shreeve says Somers' oonstructbn methods not only save weight but are also more thermally efficient. All Somers conversions on the Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay have ATP Class C approval. We exceed the standard by 25%."
