Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COMMERCIAL vehicle production in the first half of the year rose by seven per cent over the same period last year — but production in June dropped by 10 per cent.

Figures issued by the department of Industry this week show that production stood at 6,529 vehicles a week in June to give a monthly total of 32,645 vehicles.

Production for export rose by five per cent in June while home market production rose by 10 per cent.

The June production figures also compare with production of commercial vehicles in May this year which stood at a weekly average figure of 9,399 compared with 6,529 in June and 7,063 in April.

Holiday drop

Figures for June 1976 were 7,233 vehicles a week.

The June drop in production is part of an annual production picture caused by holidays but this year the drop between May and June is 2,800 vehicles compared with a 1,200 vehicle drop last year.

Quarterly production figures show that the trend towards slightly higher production continues. Second quarter figures show production of 98,490 commercial vehicles against 97,759 in the same period last year.

First quarter production figures show a bigger jump from 93,763 in the first quarter of 1976 to 106,743 in the first quarter of this year.
