A PROPOSAL to double the number of international haulage permits that allow hauliers to travel between EEC countries regardless of nationality is likely to be debated, soon, by the EEC Commissioners.
If agreed, the proposal could mean the first increase in the numbers of permits available for three years and it would bring the numbers of permits available up to 4,726.
The Commission is propos ing to allocate the increase half on the basis of the use that was made of the permits in 1975 and half on the basis of a proportion of established quotas.
