The American truckers' "favourite" government regulation is the 55 mph speed limit, according to Robert A. Kaye, director, Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety, Department of Transportation.

A report by Pennsylvania State University says many lives have been saved by the speed limit. imposed since 1973. Deaths decreased most on highways where speed limits changed the most, particularly the Interstate Highway System.
Robert Kaye went so far as to call some of the statistics truly amazing when one considers that more vehicles are on the roads each year.
