Number of new LGV drivers nosedives “I’ve been trying to get my LGV licence but there isn’t any company willing to take me on. I’ve spent my budget on it and now can’t afford it due to this economic turbulence.” hgv1 “Young people today will not put up with the sort of lifestyle and conditions necessary to become an LGV driver. Who in their right mind wants to spend all or part of your working week away from home? The wages aren’t brilliant and there is little or no career progression.” TimB48 “After 40 years in the business I would not recommend LGV driving to anyone. I use a professional training company who ask all drivers/transport managers to complete a simple questionnaire on tachograph hours before the CPC course starts. These are 15 basic everyday tachograph questions that drivers should know, yet the average score is 9/15 questions.” Rayxray AR Lunn enters administration “The industry is collapsing around us through over-regulation and unsustainable fuel costs.
