Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ihe shortage of secure truck parks has been highlighted by two night lttacks on arks in lay-bys on the A14. Roanna Avison reports.

)RIVERS USING THE A14 orth of Cambridge have been irged to be on their guard after WO hijackings.

Al 2.45am on Wednesday 14 viarch an artic carrying two om ..'ostco shipping containers was nacked in a lay-by on theA14 near iuntingdon, having arrived in this ountry at Felixstowe docks. The triver was attacked by three men, nade to lie down facing the rear of he cab and covered in a duvet.

The thieves drove the artic to v1erseyside, unhooked the trailer Ind unloaded one container full of pecialist TVs for the caravan and motorhome market, with a retail value of £292,504.

The tractor was driven for a further 15 minutes before the driver was released and it was set on fire.

At 2am on Friday 23 March an artic was hijacked from a lay-by between Spaldwick and Catworth on the A14. Again, three men smashed a window of the cab and threatened the driver, who was forced to lie down at the back of the cab. Some time later he was forced into the boot of a car and driven around for several hours before being released in Preston, Lancs. The tractor unit was found burned out in Stoke-on-Trent; the trailer and its load of Black and Decker power tools are still missing.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Round from TruckPol urges drivers to use secure parking sites rather than lay-bys along the A14.

"Cambridge police are making extra patrols along the A14, but it would appear that in both these cases the trucks have been followed from the docks,he says. "Drivers need to be vigilant."
