Yorkshire dealership Northside Truck and Van beat 21 competitors to be crowned Mercedes-Benz Dealer of the Year 2006. And this wasn't the only trophy Northside picked up Leigh Margel was named Van Sales Manager of the Year with Ben Sowersby as Used Commercial Vehicle Sales Manager of the Year.

Unsurprisingly, chairman Fergus Leitch and dealer principal Tim Ward are rather pleased. "Leigh and Ben richly deserve their individual recognition," says Ward, "but this is really a team event and every member of staff has contributed to our success." The dealership employs 273 people at its Bradford HQ and at its sites in Doncaster. Leeds and Sheffield. And it has just opened a purpose-built, £4.6m outlet on a five-acre site in Balby Carr, Doncaster.

North-East dealership Bell Truck Sales was also on the podium as Aftersales Dealer of the Year. MD Trevor Simmons says: "Everyone has pulled together to recognise our efforts.

"However, special praise has to go to Graham Burke, our aftersales director, who over the past two years has moved us to what could be regarded as the pinnacle of attersales support when it comes to trucks and vans."
