The latest-generation Ford Ranger has debuted at British Car Auctions, making three quarters of its list price Kevin Swallow reports.

Nottingham's BCA site enjoys its exclusives (CM 29 March) and its latest pioneer is the Ford Ranger.The first examples to go under the hammer were sold in a closed sale — fetching up to 75% of list price.

The sale, which featured 79 Ford light CVs, achieved a 100% conversion rate with six 06re.gistered Rangers taking centre stage. It raised nearly Elm, Ford remarketing manager Paul Bolton is pleased with the Ranger's impact. "With demand being seen across the Ford range of commercial vehicles, this sale established notable price benchmarks for Fiesta,Transit and Connect,he says.

George Alexander of Glass's Guide reports that the sale was well supported, with dealers keen to acquire the best late-year stock available within their franchise.

-A major part of the success came courtesy of the new Rangers, which created a real hu7.7,he says. "Here, bidding was around £2,000 per lot above the level that might have been expected for the comparable old-shape pickup."

Also featured in the sale were 30 new-model Transits:a SWB 260 85hp van with 2,000 miles on the clock went for 1,600 (ex-VAT), and £17,000 was paid for a LWB 350100hp version Fiesta hatchback vans with 5,000 miles on the clock fetched up to I:6,900 (ex-VAT), and Connect reached a top price of £9.100 (ex-VAT) for a 200606-registered 230 LWB van— again with 5,000 miles' service. •
