It is 10 years since tippers graced the halls at the Harrogate Exhibition Centre, but they are back this year with a new show for the tipper fraternity. Tip-Ex 2007 will run on 3-5 May and more than 65 exhibitors have booked to date, at the exhibition centre and at an openair display to be held at the Majestic Hotel.
There will be a gala dinner on the Friday night; tables were still available as CM went to press. In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Harrogate hosted TipCon, a well established event on the road transport calendar; it was then amalgamated into the CV Show.
One of the highlights of Tip-Ex will be the world's first trailer axle to store compressed air for the brake systems and air suspension in the axle housing. This new nine-tonne axle for heavy-duty trailers does away with conventional compressed-air tanks, saving up to 40kg and a lot of space under the trailer.
