The deal, negotiated by the ransport and General Workers Union (T&G), puts the drivers on just over £24,000 a year, with a ,250 bonus now included in basic pay. Pay will then rise by 0.4% above inflation next year, based on the March 2008 retail price index. The deal was accepted by a majority of more than 60%.
T&G regional industrial organiserJoe Clarke say-s a key part of the deal wasto put in place anew-starter rate covering the first six months' employment. This is designed to transfer temporary and agency staff onto the permanent payroll.
