NCH LINK FOR TIM tew name, TIM Jaeger, is on to appear on some hograph fitting and bration centres.

aeger, the French hq.,Traph manufacturer, ich is a subsidiary of the Ira group, has reached an 'eement with Time trument Manufacturers ereby TIM has become ponsible for marketing and tributing Jaeger tachographs I their replacement parts in UK and Ireland.

rim is a wholly owned midiary of Anglo Continental ock Company, a long.ablished clock and vehicle trument supplier.

L)ne of TIM's priorities is to rove after sales support for French-built tachographs ich has suffered badly as a ;ult of a series of corporate leavals among former tributors in this country. At first they were marketed der the Smiths name. Then, about two years ago Lucas bought Smiths' automotive division including the tachograph operation, which clearly did not fit in with Lucas Kienzle.

Solex, another Matra group subsidiary, then took over marketing of Jaeger tachographs in this country, but it went into receivership last year. TIM Jaeger says it plans "an immediate drive to improve service and marketing support for the aftermarket" and also is aiming to take some original equipment business from Lucas Kienzle and Veeder-Root.

A new generation of electronic Jaeger tachographs which use charts that are interchangeable with Lucas Kienzle's will go on sale in the autumn. Jaeger also plans to unveil "within the next few months", a new range of road speed limiters for commercial vehicles.

FIDUS TAKEOVER Tachograph manufacturer Veeder-Root has taken over the manufacturing and marketing rights of the Fidus road speed limiter and electronic speedometers.

Veeder-Root acquired the Fidus business from the previous owner, Filtrona Instrument and Automation and last week started manufacture of the speed limiter in its own Dundee factory. It is now being sold under the VeederRoot name.

The company is selecting some of its existing tachograph distributors as fitting and service agents for the speed limiter. Existing Fidus warranties will be honoured.
