Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Northern editor Ashley Taylor was puzzled by a familiar signature on a definitely nontransport letter in his post recently: "John Hanlon". Yes, it was the Northern LA all right, but joining his name with that of cochairman the Earl of Lonsdale in an appeal for contributions towards the £150,000 needed to send a 250-strong UK team to the Mexico City Olympics in the autumn. The Northern Committee is after £10,000 of this. If you'd like to contribute—or to learn more about the appeal—John Hanlon would be glad to hear from you at Hartburn, Morpeth, Northumberland.
