a rising rate of increase, showed that there was still a vast untapped reserve of potential candidates for membership, said the secretary of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, Mr. J. K. Bennett, in Glasgow on Monday.
Total membership in all grades was 2,532 on April 1, he reported, compared with 2,411 at the same date in 1962; the increase of 121 members in 1962-63 was double the rate of increase in 1961-62.
At its March meeting, said Mr. Bennett, the Council had approved the establishment of a Wessex centre and a North Midlands group. This meant, he said, that the centre network in Britain now had 16 formations.
