Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN accompanying drawing shows two types of a new device for securing water-connection hose. Its leading features are that pressure is exerted upon the whole of the circumference, that the clip can be detached without completely removing the screw, which is threaded in one swivelling piece and merely bears upon the bottom of a recess in the other, that there are no loose parts, and• that the device is easy both to operate and to produce. In the one type, furthermore, the use of wire instead of strip greatly increases the pressure per unit of area upon which the clip bears. The clip is provisionally patented, and inquiries, addressed to the Editor, will be forwarded to the patentee.

It should be noted that the swivelling pieces are captive in their bearings and thus cannot fall out when the clips are detached.
