Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new positive-displacement blower has been added to the range produced by W. C. Holmes and Co Ltd, Turnbridge, Huddersfield, that is intended for bulk vehicles in the 16-tons-gross category. It is known as the 56 type RBSM model and is supplementary to the larger 68 type RBS that was introduced in 1967.

Designed to handle 320 cu ft /min against a maximum working pressure of 13 psig, the new blower operates at a shaft speed, without a speed-increasing gearbox, of 2200 rpm. If a speed-increasing gearbox is fitted the shaft speed is 1100 rpm or 730 rpm according to the ratio. The relief valve

operates at a full-volume pressure of 1 psig.

In common with other Holmes blower air gaps isolate the bearing housings am gears from the casing to ensure that the a is free from oil or oil vapours. The standar blower without gearbox is suitable ft vertical or horizontal mounting, and itt position of the drive shaft can be arrange to suit the specific requirements of the usi without modification. Blowers with step-up gearbox are designed for vertici mounting. Both types operate in eithr direction.
