Protecting Tanks

rAA NOVEL means for preventing the formation of rust inside water tanks of 100-1,500 gal. capacity has been evolved by Southern Metalife,Ltd., Station Square, Harrogate, Yorks. The company offer a solid Metalife 'anodic unit to form part of a cathodic protection system.

It is stated to be easily installed and to be capable of giving 8-12 years service without attention. All metal below the water line is protected even if the water is so hot that coatings and galvanized iron break down. Any existing rust will be removed.

Washing Screens

AMONG the latest designs of windscreen washer produced by TricoFolberth, Ltd., Great West Road, Brentford, Middx, is the Ato-Matic. This draws its power from air in the spare tyre, and is intended for those vehicles on which the spare wheel is carried near the windscreen. Another new type is the Vaeo-Matic, which is pre-charged to give instant action at the touch of a control.

Steel Tyre

nESIGNED for use on long road journeys and to give good tread life under high-speed operating conditions, the Unisteel steel-carcase tyre has been

introduced by the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (G.B.), Ltd. The foundation is a single ply of steel cables placed radially bead to bead. Additional reinforcement is supplied by three diagonal plies to stabilize the tread. At present. the Unisteel is being made in sizes 7.50-20, 8.25-20 and 9.00-20.

Long-life Cutters

VALVE-SEAT turning equipment V which operates with tungstencarbide tipped tools that are stated to maintain the correct cutting angle where stones are likely to require re-dressing has been introduced by E. F. AlIchin and Co., Ltd„ 253 Bordesley Green, Birmingham. 9. The company say that each cutting tool can be expected to serve 300500 seats.

Angles are pre-set at 45 degrees and 30 degrees, and the equipment is offered in three different sets suitable for valvescat diameters of f-21 in., la-N in. and 2?,-71 in.

Special relieving cutters are included to remedy any seat liable to pocketing the valves. These tools provide for a 15-degree cut-back at the top of the seat, and a 75-degree cut-back at the bottom.

Light Sheet

WEIGHING only 13 oz. per sq. yd.. YV a nylon-and-cotton loading sheet is being tested by British Nylon Spinners. Ltd., 25 Upper Brook Street, London, W.I. The fabric is woven from yarn consisting of a nylon core sheathed with cotton. Proofing is of the conventional emulsion type. Tear strength is high.
