Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain), Ltd., have recently effected certain improvements in their large-size pneumatic cord tyre, which will be appreciated by those users who pin their faith to equipment of this description.

As will be seen from our illustration reproduced herewith, in the latest type of tyre the diamond blocks at the edges on both sides of the cover are bevelled in order to secure a more even distribution of the load over the carcase of the tyre. This feature also reduced the effects of vibration and strain on the cover.

Certain other improvements have also been incorporated in the tread of the tyre, which is now of a. semi-flat construction instead of, as formerly, being round. This 'ensures that a greater portion of the tread of the tyre is in contact with the road, and also affords increased resistance to wear.

The reinforcing rubber ribs at the base of the diamond blocks also make for stronger design and secure smoother running. These various changes have been embodied in the design of the tyre without sacrificing in the slightest de gree the efficient non-skid properties of the all-weather tread.

Whilst discussing the merits of the latest Goodyear production we might, in passing, refer to the experience of J. Blake and Co., Ltd., the well-known Lancashire contractors. In forwarding a giant pneumatic tyre of 36-in. by .6-in. dimensions to the company, they point out that this tyre has completed 37,000 miles' running without a burst and is still in serviceable condition. This tyre was fitted to a rear wheel of a 30-cwt. vehicle, and the service it has given says much for the durability and reliability of Goodyear products.
