• A leading fuel card operator is drawing up plans for a new card tailored to the needs of hauliers.
Arval PHH, which operates the AllStar and Monitor cards, will decide whether to go ahead with the new product by the end of this year.
Director of fuel Martin Hender says the card would be targeted at anything bigger than a company car: "We are market leaders in the provision of corporate fuel cards but we have not been as
successful in the commercial vehicle market because we have not had the right type of product."
He adds that price is a far bigger concern for hauliers than car drivers: "Given that they [hauliers] buy larger amounts of fuel and can travel further, it is a slightly different marketplace."
He adds that the company's bunkering service, which is offered through the CH Jones network, would not be affected by the plans.
