Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Clayton Dewandre Co. Ltd., Lincoln, showed a heating and ventilation system at the Commercial Motor Show which is suitable for singleor doubledeck buses.

Known as the U.28. it is a development from the company's 842 system but gives a 32 per cent increase in output and has blowers and elements boxed together for simple installation. A ducted system, it is particularly convenient for use in rearengined vehicles. Two heating units are recommended for normal use, warm air from these being distributed through the interior by coving-ducts at floor level. Each unit incorporates a large heater element and two centrifugal blowers, which should ideally work with fresh air.

The heating units have been designed for maximum adaptability. They can be stood on the mounting surface or be suspended from it. Hot air is discharged from the 3.75in. diameter blower outlets, which are connected by flexible hose to the distributing ducting. Units can be supplied with righthand and left-hand blowers, as required: the positions of the blowers can be varied to change the direction of air discharge. In addition, water connections may be "handed".

Output of the two units combined is 56,400 BTUs/hr (16.5kW) at 120deg F temperature difference lair/water) or 70,500 BTUs/hr (20.7kW) at 150deg F temperature difference. Their total air flow is 580 cu.ft./min.
