THE Labour majority on Glasgow Corporation have approved the abandonment of trams in Glasgow over a period of 15-20 years. It is assumed that this will become the corporation's policy.

The first hint of the decision was given by Bailie Samuel Hughes at the opening of the new Goodyear tyre factory at Garscadden, Glasgow. He said trams would be replaced by about 800 buses.
