at the oil-engine works of L. Gardner and Sons, Ltd., Patricroft, Manchester, in protest against the employment of women on two machines.
The company claimed that women had operated other machines for more than 20 years. Should redundancy arise, skilled men would be allowed to work the machines. The Foundry Workers' Union had rejected the offer, the men contending that each machine displaced 14 skilled men.
