Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd., have five models., varying in carrying capacity from 25 cwt. to 31 tons, in preparation for the Show. Perhaps the most interesting vehicle is the 20 h.p. model designed for light work. This is made in two sizes to carry 25 and 30 cwt. A chassis of the 30 cwt. model is being shown, and the exceptionally fine detail work and design will.therefore be observable. As exhibited it will be fitted with solid tyres on all wheels, but pneumatics can be supplied either to the front wheels only, or to all four wheels if desired.

A similar chassis will be shown fitted with a 15-seater motor coach body. This is of particular interest, as this size of coach is coming rapidly into favour, especially in districts with steep bills and narrow roads, where larger vehicles are apt to be somewhat unsafe. The body used is of the torpedo type, with the usual folding glass windscreen and Cape cart hood. It is upholstered in antique leather and painted in black and white.

The vehicle is mounted on 895 mm. by 135 mm. pneumatic tyres all round, those at the rear being twins. They are carried on Michelin detachable disc wheels, and c30 a spare wheel and tyre are mounted on a neat, carrier, positioned at the offside of the body.

The 25 cwt. type will be represented by a particularly neat box van, fitted with a high roof rail. This is mounted on 880 mm. by 120 mm. pneumatic tyres on the front wheels, and twin solids on the rear. A spare wheel and pneumatic tyre are carried. The internal dimensions of the body are 8 ft. long, 4 ft 9 ins. wide, and 5 ft. high, and the domed wings, glass windscreen, and high side doors add to its handsome appearance. The lighting outfit consists of 'paraffin side and tail lamps, and electric headlamps, used in conjunction with a Klersite dynamo.

As regards the heavier vehicles, there will be a 31 ton hydraulic tipping wagon fitted with the HelesShaw three-cylindered pump and hydraulic ram, the pump being driven by. a chain from a sprocket on the clutch shaft, and a 32 h.p. pantechnicon to carry a net load of 72 cwt.. The inside dimensions of the body of this vehicle are 15 ft. by 6 ft. 8 ins. by 5 ft. 6 ins., and in order to assist easy loading the rear end of the body is dropped in the form of a well 4 ft, wide, 3, ft. long, and 3 ft. deep.

We have not the space left to describe in detail the construction of the chassis, but we. will give the salient features. On the 20 h.p. models the drive from the engine is taken through a single-plate

clutch and short clutch shaft provided with dog toothed universal joints to a three-speed gearbox, behind which is positioned the foot brake. Thence the drive is through a cardan shaft to an overhead worm-driven rear axle.

The 32 h.p. chassis, which in various strengths of construction takes loads of from 50 cwt. to 4-tons, also has a singleplate clutch and three-speed gearbox, but in this case all the forward speeds are engaged by dog clutches. It is interesting to note that in this vehicle the drive is taken through the countershaft on all gears, and at. the front end of this is positioned the foot brake. The gearbox and jack shaft casings are in one, and the final drive is by roller chains.

All parts of the engine are lubricated by the patent Murray device, which permits the measured quantity of oil to be increased or decreased as required. The circulation of the cooling water is assisted by an impeller driven from an extension of the fan spindle. It should be noted that mileage recorders are now fitted at standard.
