In the visits paid by the mephers of the editorial staff of this journal to the various works, for the purpose of inspecting the models which are being prepared, the -conclusion has definitely been reached that cheapening of production, whilst retaining that excellence of quality and reliability for which British manufacturers are renowned throughout the world, is being kept in the very forefront of design and constructickn in order that foreign competition can more successfully be met.

We also came to the conclusion in connection with public service -passenger vehicles, that the makers are alive to the potential market for the lighter types, and also for the really luxurious form of conveyance.
