dominic.perry(arbi,co.uk FRESH DOUBTS about the future of two Southampton-based haulage operations have emerged after bailiffs locked both companies out of their depot.

GJ Cooper Holdings — which runs UPN member Cooper Road Sea — and Tinnelly Transport were both prevented from entering the site at the Chalcroft Distribution Park in West End, I Tants, on Friday (29 October) by bailiffs working for the site's manager Fox International Property (FIP).

The dispute is believed to centre on unpaid rent from GJ Cooper, dates hack several months and runs into six figures. FTP says it is yet to be contacted by anyone from GJ Coop er. GJ Cooper's customers have been allowed on site to rescue any goods stored there, but the firm's trucks, and those of Tinnelly, have been unable to move on or off site.

The latest twist in the saga comes barely three months after GJ Cooper was sold to Millgold Investments, a firm with strong links to Boston Commercial Finance. for just ft.

Shortly after this, its subsidiary, Boyes Conning Freight Services, was placed into liquidation, with Tinnelly Transport buying its goodwill.

Northern Ireland-based Timidly has been running its new operation from the site, al though Michael Tinnelly, brother of boss Kevin, admits that it has not yet applied for an 0-licence for the operation. Indeed, an FIP spokesman adds: "Tunnelly Transport should not be anywhere near [the sitel.We don't have a contractual relationship with them."

Tinnelly says that the action by the landlord has put 80 jobs at risk: "We had no warning of this — yesterday everything was running line. I'm flabbergasted to be honest."

No one from GJ Cooper was available to comment.
