RENAULT'S EVER expanding Master range continues to grow with the introduction of a Luton van and a rear-wheel-drive variant, the aptly named RWD.

Built on a standard platform-cab rather than a chassis-cab, the Luton has been developed with Trucksmith. It features 1.5nun aluminium sidewalls, a bulkhead for added strength and a load volume of 18.5m. Air suspension is available as a £1,500 option, it drops the ride height by 350mm.

Designed for those who need extra traction, or who operate on arduous terrain such as building sites, the RWD Master weighs in at 3.5 tonnes. It is available with a choice of seven body styles and two power outputs: 115hp or 156hp.

The Luton Master starts at £22,415 for the dCi 10th the RWD 35dCi MVVB chassis-cab is £20215.

• Iveco has also expanded its product range with the introduction of a centre-axle lifting device on its Stralis 6x2 tractor unit. It lifts by 50mm when fully laden (allowing a rear axle weight of up to 10,250kg) or 75mm when unladen.

The traction aid can be activated in all operating conditions, for either 90 seconds or until the vehicle reaches a speed of 15kmih.

• Fiat and Peugeot have announced a joint feasibility study for the development of a new light commercial vehicle. The new model will be added to the existing lines and will be built in Bursa, Turkey, by Tofas which manufactures and assemble vehicles under the Fiat licence.
