Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I refer to the article concerning" 'Lethal' tag" for retreads (CM October 7 On behalf of my company, Ondura Ltd, I wish to draw your attention to the following points: 1 Ondura is a long-established and reputable company which has been manufacturing retreaded tyres for more ti 50 years.

2 The tyres to which yo refer were not marketed b Ondura, and did not bear tl name Ondura. The tyres in question were disposed ol by the company as scrap, and we are horrified to lea that they have found their way to dealers in mid-Wal

3 As a responsible company we take all reasonable steps to ensun that scrap tyres do not firm their way on to the marke. In the past, we and other manufacturers have slash' scrap tyres and cracked ti beads before tipping the tyres, only to find that sor have been retrieved, repai and eventually returned tc as "failed in service."

4 We entirely support i statement made in your article that the greatest safeguard for the consum is to purchase both new a retreaded tyres only from reputable dealers.

C. W. DENT, Chairman, Ondura Ltd, Keighley.
