Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE refusal by lorry drivers to use tachographs is claimed to be the reason why 55 workers will lose their jobs at a Dundee factory on December 16.

A number of them are to be moved to other jobs within the company — tachograph manufacturer Veeder-Root — but 21 still face dismissal.

Gordon Wilson, MP, has written to Jack Ashwell, national secretary of the road transport group of the Trans port and General Worke] Union, stating that the reasc for the redundancy is tt serious reduction in the lev of orders for tachographs.

Mr Wilson says thf although only a small numb( of workers are involved, the are the third firm to announc redundancies in Dundee la; week.

He is appealing to unio leaders to reconsider their ba on the instrument.
