Arthur Leggett, managing rector, said that the ,mpany operated 35 vehicles id 20 trailers. Around 95 per nt of the business involved rrying sugar and flour under )ntract on regular runs.
This made maintenance isier and 16 vehicles were oked after by the company's vn staff and 19 were sent out ) any of four commercial Irages.
Questioned about the use of vehicle on the road, Mr egett admitted it was fit only )r internal use in a sugar rocessing plant. After Mr idner had commented the river must have known the ehicle's condition yet was till being employed, Mr eggett said the driver had een instructed to take the ehicle out by the customer.
The hearing was adjourned ntil December 2.
