Two employees of Leyland Motors, Ltd.. who have completed a combined total of 81 years' service, have retired. They are Mr. David Beech (43 years), external instructor of the apprentices' training centre, and Mr. W. Wilding (38 years), electrical section engineer in the company's engineering drawing office.

Mr. A. T. Webster has been appointed factory representative in Australia for Standard-Triumph International, Ltd. He has been genera] manager of the Australian branch of Leyland Motors, Ltd., since 1958. and will represent Leyland's sales and service director. Mr. D. G. Stokes, on the board of Australian Motor Industries, Ltd.. as alternative director.

Mr. A. H. Riches, transport manager of Whitbread and Co., Ltd.. the brewers, has been admitted as a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen and a Freeman of the City of London. Mr. Riches has been actively engaged in the transport industry in the City of London since 1926, first with the Shell-Mex and B.P. organ:zation. and since 1942 with Whitbread and Co., Ltd.

Mr. 0. Bertoya, managing director of Renold Chains, Ltd., since 1953, retired last Tuesday on reaching normal retirement age. He is succeeded by Mr. L. I. Tolley, who joined the company in 1953. Another retirement from the executive is that of Mr. W. S. C. Tully. Both he and Mr. Bertoya will remain on the board. Mr. J. P. Halpin has been appointed deputy managing director in addition to his executive office of finance and overseas subsidiaries director. Mr. P. I. Welding is to take charge of operational research and statistical advisory services in the department of the chief commercial officer, London Transport. He comes from the operations research section of the B.T.C.

Mr. G. C. Wilson, who has resigned as managing director of Sutherlands of Peterhead (Road. Haulage), Ltd., was presented with a silver cigarette box by the employees at the company's annual dinner dance. Mr. Wilson. who has been associated with the company for almost 40 years, is to continue as chairman. His successor as managing director is Mr. R. Pearce, formerly of Inverness.

Recent reorganization of the home sales and service division of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., has resulted in a number of changes affecting Simms branches throughout the country. These arise through certain branch managers having been promoted to head office or to regional management posts. The gaps created by these promotions have now been filled and the following new appointments are announced: Mr. B. C. Mahony (Nottingham branch manager) is appointed Birmingham branch manager; Mr. F. Horlington (Newcastle branch assistant manager) is now Carlisle branch manager; Mr. D. W. Maxworthy (Greenwich branch assistant manager), now Greenwich branch manager; Mr. E. Doming (Carlisle branch manager), now Leeds branch manager; Mr. J. Marcroft (Liverpool branch assistant manager), now Liverpool branch manager; Mr. C. G. Penury (Liverpool branch manager), now Manchester branch manager; Mr. R. Castles (Nottingham branch assistant manager). now Nottingham branch manager; Mr. F. G. H. Cutbush (Greenwich branch manager). now Southampton branch manager.

ELECTIONS At the annual general meeting of the London Centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration Mr. H. F. Lloyd was elected chairman and Mr. F. C. Simpkins vicechairman.
