Service Introduced ANEW Continental part-loads service introduced this week may point the way in which many hauliers will choose to work as integration with Europe becomes closer; that is, by forming co-operative groups making use of each other's transport, depot and warehousing facilities.

The service, opened on Monday, is for part-loads of over two tons between Britain and Germany and is being operated jointly by Continental Road Transport Services (Ackworth), Ltd., Lep Transport, Ltd., and Lassen and Co., G.m.b.H. of Dusseldorf.

The northern terminal point is at Ackworth and articulated vehicles pick up at Lep's Bradford depot before continuing through the Midlands to collect any further consignments either direct from manufacturers or from the Lep depot in Birmingham, and then on to London where the collecting centre is Lep's Chiswick depot.
