Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Radius

A CARLISLE horse-trainer, Mr. 1-1. Joseph Mulholland, was last week granted by the Northern Licensing Authority permission to extend the coverage of his present B licence to road and building materials, agricultural produce and requisites and livestock, and "as required" for horses other than for slaughter.

The licence originally authorized Mr. Mulholland, a partner in Messrs. J. Mulholland and Son, to carry, within a radius of 35 miles, horses in connection with training, shows, sales and hunts, also to do work for certain. local concerns within a 25-mile radius.

Mr. Mulholland's application was for agricultural produce, requisites, timber, road and building materials, in Cumberland, Northumberland and southern Scotland. British Railways objected particularly to his proposal to carry timber, and also to the extent of the suggested radius.

The Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, said he was doubtful whether a grant for timber from the other side of the country was suitable without proof of need.

T.R.T.A. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL INQUIRY

A RECORD of all available informa

tion concerning international travel formalities is to be made by the Traders' Road Transport Association. This was decided at the meeting of the national council last week.

Mr. G. T. Pollard reported upon investigations to ascertain the extent various road developments recommended by the National Road Transport Federation had been either implemented or were under way. The investigation was being taken to try to expedite steps for outstanding works which remained to be authorized.
