Public Transport Association by the State-owned bus companies and the London Transport Executive, on December 31, last, over 360 representatives of operators and manufacturers attended the Association's annual conference, at Bournemouth, this week. Officials of some of the companies owned by the British Transport Commission, as well as of the Road Haulage Executive and the Ulster Transport Authority, were present.

At the business sessions, two papers were read. The first, by Mr. W. D. REAKES, M.Inv.T., general manager of Bournemouth Transport Department, dealt with "Economics of Bus and Trolleybus Operation." The second, presented by Mr. A. T. WILFORD, B.Sc., A.R.C.S., F.R.I.C., C.I.Mech.E., F.Inst.Pet., director of research, London Transport Executive, was entitled "The Use of H.D. Oils in Compression-ignition Engines in Bus and Coach Operation."

The chairman of the Association is Mr. W. T. JAMES, 0.B.E., chairman of the Northern General Transport Co., Ltd.
