The Hawk caught a glimpse of die-cast heaven this week when Corgi unveiled its Vintage Glory range of steam vehicles, reproduced in 1:50 scale. The line-up consists of 14 models which will be released on a monthly schedule from March 1999. The greatest names from steam will be represented in the range, which will include wagons, road locomotives and showmans' vehicles.

Pictured, right, is the Fowler 56 Super Lion showmans engine King Carnival II, which is due

for release in September 1999.

If you can't wait that long, the Fowler 56 Super Lien showmans' engine The Lion, ln Artderton EF, Rowland livery (pictured, above) will be released in April.

"Corgi has been making die-cast scale models for more than 40 years and this is the first time we have produced a range dedicated to steam: says Corgi's marketing director Angus Macleod. Each limited-edition model will come with its own numbered certificate; prices range from around £25 to £50.
