WITH 1,000 vehicles under his control at Wales Gas, Vernon Griffiths has just taken over his new job as transport manager.
He succeeds Richard Di[not, who has been promoted to take over control of the purchasing and supplies department of Wales Gas.
Born and educated in Wales, Mr Griffiths began his career as an apprentice motor mechanic with the Pontypool gas undertaking, and rose to become transport officer for the eastern region in 1972, where he helped to set up the modernised traffic department.

Ryder Truck Rental has appointed Glenn Schnieder, managing director of Ryder Truck Rental Ltd, as its new director of international operations, Ryder Systems Inc.
