Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHEN Peter Searson of Heanor Haulage, Langley Mill could not buy a vehicle built to the specification he needed to haul large individual loads, he set about building his own.

Using the basis of one of his old Scammel Contractors, he added a third axle which he claims will allow for a 45-ton imposed load through the king pin. A Detroit 92 series diesel engine was substituted to drive through an eight-speed 12515 Fuller gearbox, giving a top speed of about 44mph.

The braking system has been redesigned and includes spring brakes on all wheels and the steering replaced with ZF power steering. To provide the latest in comfort for the crew, a Volvo twin bunk sleeper cab has been modified, and includes a flat walk-through floor from one side to the other with an inspection lid above the gearbox.

The exhaust system now runs under the cab and is constructed of thick gauge 4in x 4in square tubing which is expected to last the life of the vehicle.

So successfull has this experiment been that a new company has been formed called HHT Commercial Vehicles Ltd and there are orders to convert a further, two for Heanor Haulage Transport, and to supply another two for export.
