ecovery operator Keith Thompson believes a vehicle stolen from his Winchester garage recently could be on the Continent.

The green and white lveco Ford 49.10 disappeared from Easton Garage, Easton, Winchester between 04:00hrs and 08:00hrs on Wednesday 6 May. Although Thompson was asleep in the house next door to the garage, he did not hear anything suspicious.

He reckons that because of the timing of the theft the vehicle could have been taken to France on the early ferry from Southampton. The vehicle's registration number is F140 FIT, chassis number is ZCFC 496000 200008323 and engine number is 00945872.

The vehicle has a beavertail body with electric winch while the cab has red and blue reflective tape on the sides.

Whole sale greengrocers David and Mark Allison lost their AWD 7.5-tonne 11814 curtainsider from the

Sawley Service Station, Sawley, Longeaton, Nottingham recently and have offered a £250 reward for information leading to a conviction.

The vehicle, registration number G995 NVO, has a white cab and blue curtains with D and G Allison and Son, Wholesale Greengrocer, painted in white. It was stolen between 21.00hrs on Friday 22 May and 04.00hrs on Saturday 23 May. The quarterlight was smashed to gain access and the police believe it was stolen to order. Chassis number is SBEDGM3DGKT 2000846, with engine number 505169.

cania main agent Union Trucks in Darlington fell victim to a thief on Monday 19 May when a man giving the name of Stephen Scotford strolled into the dealer and bought a 28,500 Mercedes vehicle with a stolen Yorkshire Building Society cheque.

The secondhand vehicle was a red and white Mercedes 1617 rest cab model with a 7.3m curtainsided body and Bridgestone Tyres livery. Registration number is E947 PEA, chassis number is 25329643 and engine number is 366952200721167 and the vehicle has been licensed until December.

Police have told Union Trucks' used vehicle sales manager Robin Raine that a full cheque book was stolen from the Yorkshire Building Society 18 months ago. "The cheques are now beginning to surface so other dealers must be on their guard," warns Raine.
