Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Many friends were present to witness a presentation to George Payze last week in his retirement from Duple after forty years' service. The occasion was the Duple lunch during the PRTA conference at Eastbourne, and the company's chairman and group m.d., Frank B. Ford, presented George with a clock. He's taking up a directorship at Willowbrook, which was part of the group until recently.

I had not realized that George Payze joined Duple as long ago as November 1930; he was a sales rep at that time. In 1939 he was seconded to the Ministry of Supply and I'm sure it will be news to some of his colleagues that by the end of the war he was assistant director of specialind vehicles.

We all thought he might have retired for good from Duple in 1969 when he had to leave through ill-health but happily he was back again on special assignments within about six months and when Frank Ford bought the Duple group in 1970 George Payze was employed as a consultant. There can be few people with his knowledge of the psv world—including such exotic spots as Central Africa.
