• On Tuesday the 140-vehicle fleet of J & H Transport Ltd joined the Ralph Hilton Transport Group. Mr R. Hilton, the group chairman, whose shares were standing at 73p when the deal was concluded, told CM that the share value of J & H now stood at £1,455,000.
Mr H. Jeune, J & H md, and the company's accountant, Mr R. Goodwin, will join the HTS board. Mr R. Hilton snr, Mr T. Hodge jnr and Mr R. Hilton jnr will join the J & H board. The founder ofJ & H Transport, Mr F. Jeune will continue in the capacity of president of J & H Transport and Mr F. Cavell continues as general manager.
J & H Transport operates from 18 depots throughout the country and while there are no immediate plans to close any of the depots it is understood that some rationalization will take place to avoid duplication of services.
