ANEW type of portable high-pressure washer made by an American company. L. and A. Products Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota, has recently been demonstrated in London. This Washer, Model 202, suitable for cleaning buildings, interior walls and floors, cars, commercial vehicles, industrial machinery, and so on, is being distributed in the UK by Marriott and Hutchison Ltd.

The L. and A. Model 202 develops a pressure of 500 p.s.i. It can be connected to an ordinary tap water supply (hot or cold) and can apply detergents, soaps, cleaning solvents, or a combination of water and detergents. The washer is designed to be operated from normal electricity mains supply and is controlled from the light-alloy pistol grip of the spray gun. Distributed by: Marriott and Hutchison Ltd„ 16 Barter Street, London, WC1.

Improved Bender 1-1. A RANGE of rotary formers for 0-75 in. to 2 in. outside diameter light-gauge tubes can now be supplied with the Staffa Rotapress hand-operated hydraulic bending machine. A series of tests is said to have been made on a wide range of materials and tube thicknesses and stainless-steel and electricwelded steel tubes and electrical conduits from 12 to 20 s.w.g. wall thickness can he dealt with. Copper and aluminium tubes of similar characteristics can also be bent equally well. The Rotapress machine has a dual-purpose forming bead £oi press and rotary bending and a feature is the very short clamping length required for rotary bending. It is claimed that the conversion from rotary to press bending is quick and simple and that the adjustable plates can be positioned on either side of the machine to allow rightand left-hand bends to be made in all planes without difficulty. A single-acting or two-stage hydraulic pump can be specified.
