The merger with Holt Products Ltd. and the recent death of Mr. F. H. Hayward have produced three major executive changes in the sales division of Romac Industries Ltd. Mr. D. H. Barraft has been appointed sales manager; Mr. A. J. Hall has joined the company from Holt Products and has been appointed export manager, and Mr. L. Bradley becomes assistant to Mr. Hall.

Mr. Peter Wright has been appointed to the board of Blox Services Ltd., the contract-hire division of Transport Group (Holdings) Ltd. Mr. H. J. Proctor has been appointed contracts manager of the company and Mr. J. Keane chief engineer. These changes in management organization also concern Blox subsidiaries Burn Transit Ltd. and Blox (Polar Blast) Services Ltd.

Two Ford of Britain truck specialists have left the country on a 33-day mission to give sales training courses to dealers handling the new D-series truck range in overseas territories not serviced by a local Ford company. They are Mr. John Ling, who has been with Ford for 24 years, and Mr. Richard Payling, who has been six years with the company.

Lt.-Col. A. M. Mackintosh is to resign from the board of Kennings Ltd., Chesterfield, on June 30 because of pressure of his many other commitments. He will remain on the board of Kennings SA, the company's French subsidiary.

Mr. A. F. Cowin, who for 27 years has been depot superintendent of Cumberland Motor Services Ltd.. in Carlisle. is to retire soon. His father was a founder of the Whitehaven Motor Service Co. Ltd., forerunner of the present company.

Following the acquisition of Cambrian Castings Ltd. by Clayton Dewandre, the board has been reconstituted. Mr. S. J. Barnes is chairman, Mr. G. L. Turner is deputy chairman and managing director, Mr. I. E. Ralph is director and general manager, and other directors are Mr. J. Ratcliffe, Mr. J. J. Noonan and Mr. S. C. Tapley.

Mr. I. G. Templer has been appointed area manager, public transport, Midlands and South Wales, for the Dunlopillo Division of Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., while Mr. S. J. Linham has been made area manager, transport, in the Midlands.

Mr. H. W. Appleton, for the past 12 years divisional manager of the Castro! Group's motor manufacturers' department, is to retire at the end of August.

Mr. Walter Bryan, who joined Simms Motor and Electronics Corporation in 1904 and has been a director since 1935, has retired from the company's board. He is 79.

Mr. C. J. Harris, UK sales manager of Castrol Ltd., has been appointed to the board of Castro] (Ireland) Ltd. Mr. 3. Harding, sales manager of the Irish company, Mr. F. Medcalf, secretary, and Mr. D. Flood, works and technical manager, have also joined its board. Mr. L. M. Snipper, formerly with th! commercial vehicle marketing division of the Ford Motor Co. Ltd., has joined Bosch Ltd. as automatic sales manager, taking over from Mr. Cyril L. Purford, who has returned to the textile industry.

Mr. F. C. (Freddie) Lofts has been appointed special commercial representative for Smiths Motor Accessory Division. Previously Mr. Lofts was Yorkshire area representative for Smiths.

Mr. Louis Alan Rowe, manager of the Maidstone branch of Serck Radiator Services Ltd., has retired. His successor is Mr. Desmond O'Callaghan, who formerly managed the Serck Services branch at Bedford.

Three senior executives of Alexander Duckham and Co. Ltd. have been appointed to the board of directors. They are: Mr. C. F. Ford, who joined the company in 1947 and in 1955 became general marketing manager; Dr. V. E. Gripp, who has been with the company, since 1961 as chief scientist in charge of all research and technical development work; and Mr. C. J. Taylor, who joined the company in 1962 as industrial development manager.

New appointments have been announced by VIP Petroleum Ltd. Mr. F. C. Cumming becomes marketing manager, previously serving with the Regent Oil company as manager, general and distributor sales. Mr. A. H. Frost, who has been the company's Midlands manager for the past eight years, becomes manager, fuel oil department. Mr. R. W. Bordoli has been appointed manager, lubricants department. He has served with the company as North West region manager. Mr. R. Evans becomes regional sales manager, London.

Mr. Dennis R. Pearson has been appointed deputy managing director of Halladay's Drop Forgings Ltd., of Witton, Birmingham—one of the W. P. Butterfield group of engineering companies, Mr. Freddie Meacock, for more than 19 years on the staff of Aeroplane and latterly assistant editor, has joined Graviner (Colnbrook) Ltd. as publicity manager.

Obituary

WE regret to record the deaths of Maj. J. H. Shields and Mr. J. Tatlow.

Maj. Shields was for many years district manager with David MacBrayne Ltd. at Fort William. Latterly he was transport manager at the company's Glasgow headquarters.

Mr. Tallow was director and branch manager of Morris Commercial Cars Ltd. He entered the motor industry as a trainee in 1918 with the Rover Car Co. Ltd. and joined Riley Motors Ltd., remaining with this company until transferring to Morris Commercial Cars Ltd. in 1953.
