L.G.O. Settlement.

We publish, on page 320, the terms which have been discussed between the L.G.O.C. and representatives of their men in various departments. These terms, as we point out, are intended to meet the peculiar severity of London working conditions. They will, no doubt, seeing how much better they are than the average remuneration in the tramway branch of London's transport, give a useful lead.

The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co., Ltd., for the week ended 23rd May, 1914, were £10,163, and for the Gearless Omnibus Co., Ltd.„ 2517. These show an increase of £6059 and 2157 respectively over the corresponding period of last year.

Dennis Ambulance Costs.

The Wandsworth Guardians have published the inclusive working costs for their Dennis motor ambulance, in respect of the year ended the 31st March last. A total distance of 11,349 miles was travelled, and 964 gallons of petrol were used. The total outgo amounted to £247 5s. 2d., divided as follows :—Wages, 2115 10s. ; tires and tubes, £51 6s. 3d. ; lubricants, 23 13s. 2d. ; repairs, 211 us, 11d. ; and petrol, .265 3s. 10d. This is equivalent to 5.2d. per mile run, but no charge is made for depreciation or interest, which will increase the cost by approximately IA.. per mile. Very considerable economy is thus effected, apart from the greater efficiency.
