Motor Auctions.

The Editor, "THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR."

Sir :—We wish to make known the fact that we are holding sales by auction of second-hand commercial motor vehicles on the first Thursday of each month, at 11.30 precisely. We have a very fine assortment of lorries, vans, chars-a-bancs, motorbuses, motor chassis, and spare parts, etc., which will be sold, positively without reserve, on the 4th June, at 11.30, at our premises, Magnet Wharf, Bow Bridge, London, E.

We believe we are the first to institute regular monthly sales confined to commercial motor vehicles and parts, and we trust you will be able to make a note of it in your paper.

—We are, yours faithfully, MARTIN'S. Bow Bridge, E.

Advisory and Consulting Facilities.

The Editor, "Tim COMMERCIAL MOTOR."

Sir :—In view of the interest which is being taken at the present time in the subject of the possibilities of motor transport in specific cases, and in the question of maintenance and upkeep, we should like to point out that it is an important part of our business to advise as to the likelihood of motor vehicles being commercially remunerative, and the best means of making them so, and also to supervise maintenance for owners. Most people seem to think that our business is confined to the expert examination of second-hand vehicles, and the selection and supply of new ones, whereas the scope of our work is very much greater than this, as you will see on reference to the enclosed card, the contents of which may possibly be of interest to many of your readers, and we trust that you may consider it to be worthy of comment. We shall, of course, be pleased to forward a copy to any of your readers interested.--Yours faithfully, MARKHAM AND PRANCE. 1.13, Strand, W.C.

[We hope to reproinca the card next week,--Eu.] Non-Skids for Motorbuses.

The Editor, "THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR."

Sir :—Referring to your correspondent's letter signed " A Brixtonian " in your last issue, I should like you to allow me to say that I have placed one of our non-skid devices at the disposal of the motor editor 'of "The Daily Telegraph " who, on 2nd May, made a public offer to have it fitted free of charge to a public-service vehicle. A full description of this device appeared in your issue of 7th May. "A BrixIonian " hits the mark, when he says : "I think that is why they don't pay so well in wet weather—people are afraid of their skidding." One has only to read the daily papers to know how much buses do skid, which is an unpleasant experience for the passengers, and oftentimes costly to the motorbus owners.—Yours faithfully,

THE NF.WCOMB NON-SKID SYNDICATE, LIMITED.

Late Hours for Drivers.

The Editor, " ME COMMERCIAL MOTOR_" Sir :-.--Replying to the letter of " Owner, Manchester," of the 21st May, I must say that a great deal of what he says may be practically correct, but I am not at all surprised, seeing how some drivers are treated by the owners. I myself have to be at the shed to light the fire, and get steam up, at 3 and 4 a.m., and it is 8 and p.m., and has even been as late as 12 and 1.30, before I have done my day's work. I have complained till I am tired, and am about sick of it; can anyone wonder that men get stale and careless?

I have not been driving very long, and was sent to the firm I am working for by the makers. I am often sent away from home on six-day and seven-day trips, which I think shows that I am trustworthy, and giving satisfaction, and I think that there are very few men who would stand what I do at so little recompense.—Yours faithfully,

Manchester. " Dunnza."
