A BUS driver whose public se vice vehicle driving licence wi revoked after he was convicte of growing a marijuana plan successfully had his appei against the revocation uphel before Preston magistrates la: week.

The court heard how th licence held by Lloyd Georg Henley of 35 Heversham Av( nue, Fulwood, Preston, had bee revoked by the North-wester Traffic Commissioners followin his conviction at Preston Crow Court on November 19.

Mr Henley was given a Gond tional discharge for three year and his employers, Presto Borough Transport, had SUE pended him from duty.

The court was told that M Henry had found a match bo; containing seed and he decide( to plant them He had in fact suc ceeded in growing what Gout( only be described as a "poor ex cuse for a marijuana plant", photograph of which was pro duced.

It was argued that his lack o. success in cultivating the plan. was no doubt the reason for hiE conditional discharge.

In evidence, Mr Henley said h€ had never had anything to dc with drugs of any sort and he would never be involved in such a matter again.

The Commissioners, however, felt that it could be reasonably assumed that anyone who grew marijuana intended to smoke it, A man who had responsibility for people's lives might well be a risk if his judgment was impaired by drugs.

On the other hand, many people had bottles of alcohol at home — but this did not mean they would drink and drive.
