Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

OODYEAR'S revolutionary radial steel cv tyre with self-adjusting read is now available in the UK following an intensive four-year evelopment and testing programme throughout Europe.

It is the latest addition to the -series, primarily intended for e on long-haul vehicles and aches, and the company exects to gain a larger share of e tyre market with the design.

Designated the G291, it is claimed to run cooler than conventional tyres and can give up to 25 per cent more mileage.

Running temperatures are reduced by avoiding the heat build-up associated with the three-stage deformation that occurs when a conventional rib tyre rolls.

Being regroovable and retreadable, it is claimed to be the most cost-effective tyre on the market, while its revolutionary Flexomatic tread has patents pending in 25 countries.

The tread consists of a multiple of independent wedgelike elements which self-adjust individually and reduce deformation when entering the contact patch.

During contact with the road, the elements lock together to form a solid rib — resisting both lateral and circumferential forces and improving lateral stability.

As the tread leaves the road, said to be the most critical stage, the elements smoothly re-adjust into the initial tread pattern.

During acceleration the micro blades of the G291 tread act as biting edges which helps increase traction while resisting the heel and toe wear that characterises traditional block tread design cv tyres. The blades func • tion in the opposite direction during braking, where the edges provide added grip.

The treadcompound — developed at Goodyear's International Technical Centre in Luxembourg — is claimed to be resistant to wet skid, with improved winter roadholding and improved steering.

The new tyre, produced at the company's Wolverhampton factory, will be available from 10R22.5 to 13R22.5 and 9.00R20 to 1200R20.
