The traditional way to discover what dealers have to offer is to read the classified advertisements.These adverts will give you a good idea of what is generally available — but they will also be seen by others interested in what is on offer. As a result, if you see something you fancy, phone the vendor straight away.

Only a small selection of a dealer's stock is normally advertised,ancl prices are rarely included. If there is something you are after and the dealer has it in stock, try to glean as much information as you can over the phone before you go to kick the tyres. Get the asking price, but don't haggle at this stage. Do that once. you've seen the product and meet the seller face to face.

Using the internet as a selling tool is not yet a widespread practice. But this situation is changing, with many dealers, especially independents, looking to exploit the medium to its full potential.
