Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Engines: 9.0-litre 5cy1, 230hp/L050Nm, 270hp/1,250N m; 11.7-litre 60, 340 hp/1,700Nm, 380hp/1,900Nm, 420hp/2,100Nm, 480hp/2,250Nm Transmissions: Sonia Bspd manual, I4spd manual, 14spd automati( Chassis: 4x2,6x2,6x2 twin-steer, 6x4 MODELS TESTED/PUBLISHED: R420 LA 4x2 M NA 10 Nov 2005 RI 14 LA 4x2 NA 380 7 Aug 2003 R124420 9 Sept 2004 R124 LA 4x2 NA 420 300d 2003 R164480 25 Aug 2005 The original mass-volume fleet specialist, the Swedish manufacturer is more careful these days about who gets what and where it goes. And that has helped to raise residual values for entry-level P/R-Series motors.

It's EGR for the P/R-Series 9.0 and 11.7-litre engine for fleet operators, with a broad range of engines, cabs and gearboxes. There is still a market for the P-cab but the RSeries takes control here.

The specs listed are the likely options available. However, thanks to its modular build, in theory you can have a Topline or HIghline cab on a 9.0-litre engine. In the main, the R-Series with the 420hp engine is the bread-and-butter option and its torque levels, not to mention the Scania name, make it a viable contender. It might, though, be more cost-effective to cut down on the options.

LIKES AND DISUKES

✓ Drivelines ✓ Brand ✓ Residuals ✓ Transmission x Too many options • P-Series not a driver's favourite
