MODEL TESTED/PUBUSHED:

Like Volvo, the Italians offer two engines to try to reach two different markets. The Cursor 8 is lighter and geared up for aggregates and asphalt, while the Cursor 13 is designed for heavy duty work.

Like Volvo the smaller engine is seen as lightweight when it comes to oomph, but the saving in kerb weight to get it competitive can't be ignored. There are 2.3m-width cabs —Active Day and Active Time — with disc brakes on the front axles and drums at the back

It is perceived as a heavy truck, and its performance at Tipper 2006 underlined that, but the light option is proving viable.

The Cursor 8 360hp comes at 32t, and all four at 26t, with the 16-speed manual gearbox 50kg heavier than the automatic option. A 6x4 tractor is also available.

LIKES AND DISLIKES...

✓ Cursor 13 engine ✓ Cabin space and comfort

x Outsider in tipper market

x Need to spec it well to get weight down x Low torque on C8360hp at 321
