Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW 12-volt Dagenite battery primarily intended for tractors, industrial plant and special vehicles has been introduced by Pritchett and Gold and E.P.S. Co. Ltd., Dagenite Works, Dagenham Dock, Essex.

Known as type 6GQ29-D, the new battery is claimed to give a better performance without any increase in size than previous models in its range. This improvement has been brought about by the introduction of 29 plates per cell instead of 25 plates. Although this does not proportionally increase the capacity at the 20and 10-hour rates, it provides a better performance at high rates of discharge.

In spite of these improvements in electrical characteristics, there has been no increase in the price of the battery, which remains at a list price of £24 14s. dry and uncharged. The Dagenite 6GQ29-D measures 20-25 in. long by 10.938 in. wide by 9-68 in. high. It weighs 155 lb. with acid and has a capacity of 175 a.h. at the 20-hour rate.

New System for Body Repairs

RIEPAIRING holes in bodywork, when there is access from one side only, is made easier with the Acrulite method developed by Engineering and Plastics Manufacturing Ltd., Demmings Road, Cheadle, Cheshire. This is based on the principle of the formation of a plastic " rivet " rather than on pure adhesion.

Where a hole in metal has to be fitted the insertion of a base is necessary, a matter that can present difficulty if there is no access from the underside. With the Acrulite method, special elliptical steel-cored plastic mouldings are inserted through the hole to form the base. These are available in a number of sizes and are held in position by a simple springsteel fitting.

With the moulding held in place a cold-curing plastic repair is built up with the special Acrulite powder and solution. Hardening is said to take place in about 10 minutes when the filler will have fused to the base moulding, forming in effect a plastic rivet on the body. Other filling can then be performed and the surface rubbed down in the normal manner, ready for painting. Pigments are available to colour the Acrulite to a matching finish if required.

Full details can be obtained from the makers and sample kits can be obtained for £1, or £1 5s. including a set of pigments.
