Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A N AIR SPRINGING system for tandem axles is described in patent No. 896,181 (Cranes (Dercham), Ltd., South Green Works, Dereham, Norfolk). Each wheel is separately sprung and a constant-level device is incorporated.

The drawing shows a pair of axles according to the invention. Each assembly is pivoted on a shaft (1) and the load is applied through air bags (2). The bags, on their upper surface, rest on a sloping face which forms the bottom of a wedge-shaped surge tank (3).

The two surge-tanks are connected by a pipe (4) and a constant-height valve (5); this is coupled to one of the axles by a height-measuring rod (6). The valve may alternatively be worked from the middle of a cross-link thus responding to the average height of wheels on opposite sides.

An Insulated Van

PATENT No. 903,290 describes an insulated van for carrying frozen foodstuffs.

A double trap-door is provided which can at no time directly connect the interior to the outside air. The patent bears the name Thermal Closures and Containers Ltd., Pitcairn Road, Mitcham.• Surrey.
